Birds of Prey and Owls (WWGBP) - Publications



Dear All,

This is to inform you that it has been started to digitise all raptor publications of the World Working Group on Birds of Prey and Owls (WWGBP) as well as the first two raptor world conference proceedings published by the former ICBP (International Council for Bird Preservation), now BirdLife International, as completely as possible, and to provide them free of charge for all interested parties as PDF download data on the WWGBP website

The World Working Group on Birds of Prey and Owls (WWGBP)

All papers in:

EAGLE STUDIES (over 60 original papers, 549 pages),

HOLARCTIC BIRDS OF PREY (The volume contains 680 pages with 59 original papers),

RAPTORS IN THE MODERN WORLD (612 pages, 72 papers in 8 sections by 112 authors from 27 countries)

and

BIRDS OF PREY BULLETIN No. 4 (302 pages, contains 28 papers by 41 authors from 20 countries world-wide on birds of prey and owls)

can already be downloaded individually as searchable PDF files. Further publications (see http://www.raptors-international.de/) will be added as soon as possible.

World Working Group on Birds of Prey and Owls

WWGBP has published the proceedings of several world conferences on raptors as well as of other international meetings since 1989. To honor Robin Chancellor WWGBP has recently begun to digitise these publications and make them accessible free of charge to all interested persons.

The orgininal articles of the following publication can now be downloaded as PDF files from the website of WWGBP (http://www.raptors-international.org/book/book_birds_of_prey_1991.html  and http://www.raptors-international.org/ ) :

This volume comprises 302 pages (size 14.5 x 21 cm, with cover in colour, many black and white photographs, stitched).

A collection of twenty-eight new and original studies by 41 authors from 20 countries world-wide on birds of prey and owls covering a wide range of topics concerning the biology, ecology, status and conservation of these birds. Contributions include: Trends, Status and management of the White-tailed Sea Eagle, Distribution and Status of the Cinereous Vulture, Evaluation of some Breeding Parameters in a population of Eagle Owls, Status and Biology of the Bearded Vulture, Replacement of Mates in a Persecuted Population of Goshawks, Status and Distribution of Diurnal Raptors in Japan, the Migration of Birds of Prey and Storks in the Straits of Messina.



RAPTOR CONSERVATION (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Raptor-Conservation/ ) is the official and largest WWGBP online discussion board with about 1,300 members. All those seriously interested in the study and conservation of diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey (Falconiformes and Strigiformes) worldwide may subscribe.
