Craig Busch UK Zoo Tour update

Craig Busch will no longer be visiting Dartmoor Zoo.



The Dartmoor blog entry for 21st October 2009 states: "....oxygen of intense publicity, which is rarely useful in establishing the actual facts.

Our own careful research revealed that no serious allegations made against him had yet been substantiated, and on the principle of innocent until proven guilty, we stood by our original decision.

However, we have since been advised by BIAZA, which is effectively our governing body, not to play a part Mr Busch’s tour, and so we have withdrawn our support."

I am delighted that this decision has been made. However I do feel that if it had been arrived at by further 'careful research' rather than BIAZA advice that it would have more substance.



There have been the names of other collections bandied about these past few weeks. I have never mentioned these anywhere nor will I do so now. However it is my given understanding from BIAZA that Craig Busch will not be visiting these either.



So, unmentioned collections? Maybe, who knows?

Apart from Dartmoor Zoo, no UK zoo collection has, as far as I am aware made an announcement to say that Craig Busch will be hosted by them on his planned October visit.
His spokesperson on Facebook had mentioned several collections. Some of these, through the grapevine have stated that he will not be visiting them. Others have made no statement at all. Dartmoor have gone completely quiet on the issue. So right now it all seems a bit mysterious.

Craig Busch, the infamous 'Lion Man' is apparantly setting out on a UK Zoo Tour.

I am presently aware of only one UK Zoo (Dartmoor Zoo) who has agreed to host him in anticipation of having many of his numerous UK fans visit. They cite financial reasons for doing so. I am actually really disgusted at this point of view. It is a bit like selling your mother down the river.

No doubt other UK zoos have been approached and some are even considering it (I can actually guess at which ones they will be, but I won't).

I don't suppose Dartmoor gives a damn as to what I think but until they cancel they have lost any respect I ever had for the place.
