Zoos Expert Committee Members
New Members required for the Zoos Expert Committee
Established in 2011, the Zoos Expert Committee provides the Government with access to independent, authoritative, impartial and timely technical advice on zoos matters.
This advice supports Government policies, priorities and responsibilities.
There are now three key roles available on the Committee, which give you the chance to inform current thinking on all aspects of zoo regulation.
As Chair, you will lead the Committee and aim to establish collectively agreed views and advice.
You’ll also build strong links with Government officials and act as the Committee’s representative, explaining its work and views to Government.
Naturally, good leadership skills are essential. You’ll also need a gift for teamwork.
We’re also looking for Committee members.
Specifically, we need a Committee member with local authority expertise and another with small zoo operator expertise.
In both these roles, you will contribute to the Committee’s deliberations, using your strong communication skills and knowledge of your field.
For the first role, you will need experience of administering local authority duties in relation to zoos and zoo licensing.
For the second, you will need experience of managing or operating a small zoo.
