3rd International Animal Training Conference

3rd International Animal Training Conference
12th – 16th June 2016!

Animal Training – The Journey

After the fantastic success of the second International Animal Training Conference we are very proud to announce we will once again be running this event!

Entitled “Animal Training – The Journey”, the conference will focus on the hows, ifs and whys of animal training, showing both the trainers’ and animals’ journeys from concept to conclusion. Whilst we’re all very proud of showing off the finished results of our training sometimes the most interesting and exciting part of the process is how we got there. The conference will delve into this area looking at the entire process rather than just the final result.

You may have also noticed that the event is now over four days, please check back soon for more details and see our exciting plans unravel as we continue to plan for this exciting 3rd International Animal Training Conference.

Just as before all animal training related fields are welcome, from exotics to guide dogs, killer whales to snails – please come and share your animal training journey with us.

Keep checking back on our web site for further information http://twycrosszoo.org/animal-training-conference/ or please email twycross.conferences@twycrosszoo.org so we can keep you up to date with all our exciting developments.

1st International Old World Primate and Prosimian Symposium

1st International Old World Primate and Prosimian Symposium

After the success of this year’s New World Primate Symposium at Twycross Zoo which was attended by other 100 Keepers, Students and Zoo Professions from all over the world, we are happy to inform you that Twycross Zoo is organising another of these useful and rewarding symposiums. The next symposium would be based on the fascinating groups of old world primates and prosimians, many of which have become very popular in animal collections around the world.

The symposium would cover the same types of topics as the last symposium on New World Primates with additional talks that would be relevant to species specific animals such as the Colobinae and nocturnal species like the Aye-aye. This two day symposium would be aimed at keepers who work with these groups of primates and also people who are studying to become primate keepers in the future. One of the main successes of this year’s symposium was that it gave keepers the opportunity to network with other keepers and exchange invaluable ideas and insights. The presentations were of a very high standard and very well received.

To make this symposium assessable to all we have tried to keep registration cost low as we can so that everyone can be involved, so for the whole two days which includes all talks and workshops as well as lunches and coffee’s will only cost £50 and this year we are offering an ABWAK early bird deal for £45 for the whole two days (Professional Members only, offer ends 31st Jan 2012)

A flyer has been attached to this email for your reference to this amazing conference - please feel free to print off or forward to likeminded others that would love to attend or present at our conference. Also find attached a registration form and abstract submission form. (NOT ATTACHED...so please email address below)

ACCESS TO WILDLIFE INFORMATION SET TO REVOLUTIONISE ANIMAL CARE

ACCESS TO WILDLIFE INFORMATION SET TO REVOLUTIONISE ANIMAL CARE

In a world first, Twycross Zoo - East Midland Zoological Society has put its closely referenced scientific and veterinary information into the public domain in a move designed to dramatically improve well-being in wildlife throughout the world.

The Wildpro® Multimedia Website ~ an electronic encyclopaedia and library ~ contains a vast amount of scientific information that has been collated over 20 years and for the first time is freely available to wildlife professionals, academics and other interested parties. The information is likely to be particularly valuable in remote developing countries, where access to libraries and similar information resources is very limited.

"There is no doubt that having this information freely available will change the way wildlife, captive and free-ranging, is treated and managed" said Dr Suzanne Boardman, CEO at Twycross Zoo. "This information resource encourages an approach to disease prevention and investigation, which considers the interaction between the animal host, the pathogen and the environment in producing either health or disease, and supports logical thinking and decision making.”
Visit the Website at http://www.wildlifeinformation.org/  .
